How To: Install Ethanol Content Sensor

We recently installed a Fuel-It E85 Flex Fuel Kit into the RS5, and performed before and after zero to sixty comparisons using Dragy, a GPS-based performance meter that uses high-speed GPS satellites to measure a vehicle's performance within 1/100th of a second. Having the 034Motorsport ECU/TCU tune makes it super simple to switch between fuels, and in this video we'll show you how.

For those unfamiliar with what Ethanol based fuels are and their benefits, here are some key highlights:

  • Ethanol is a renewable fuel that can reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Energy independence: Ethanol is produced domestically from crops, which reduces the U.S.'s dependence on foreign oil.
  • Improved engine performance: Ethanol has a higher octane number than gasoline, which helps prevent pre-ignition knock and improves engine efficiency.
  • Water tolerance: Ethanol is more water-tolerant than unleaded gasoline.
  • Fuel system benefits: Ethanol prevents gas line freeze-up, suspends moisture, and keeps fuel injectors clean.
  • Oxygenation: Ethanol oxygenates fuel, which improves combustion efficiency and reduces air emissions.
  • Domestic jobs: Ethanol production creates domestic jobs.

Ethanol is available in several blends, including E10 (10% ethanol, 90% gasoline), E15 (10.5% to 15% ethanol), and E85 (flex fuel)
